Worship and Music

“Happy new church Year” begins December 1st. Four Sundays In Advent, music include songs waiting for the birth of Jesus. The song, “ Light the Advent Candle” is taken from the United Church Hymn Book, will be sung when the Advent Candles are lit.

The hymn for December is #247 “Come Now, O Prince of Peace”. The composer, Geon-young Lee, was born in 1947 in North Korea. After the Korean War, the family moved to South Korea and Mr Lee grew up in Seoul. Mr Lee started to compose at age 12. In 1976 he went to Frankfurt, Germany, to study music composition, returning to Korea to teach and became choirmaster at the Anglican Cathedral in Seoul. He was the editor of the Korean Anglican hymnal. Mr. Lee composed the words and music of his hymn in 1988 while attending a workshop at Geneva with the World Council Of Churches.

Thank you to Jewel for assisting with the November hymn.
